HTC Wildfire

HTC has officially announced the HTC Wildfire, a new Android 2.1 smartphone that resembles the already-available HTC Desire, although it’s smaller and comes with not so advanced features. As you may recall, the hew handset’s name was chosen by HTC fans via Facebook

With the Wildfire, HTC plans to make the HTC Sense experience available to young mobile users for the first time. The smartphone will be available in several color versions (including black, white and red), featuring a 3.2 inch QVGA touchscreen display, HSDPA, GPS, Wi-Fi, Friend Stream application (for access to Facebook, Twitter and Flickr), 3.5mm headset jack, 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, 528MHz Qualcomm processor, and MicroSD card support.

The Wildfire also comes with a new app sharing widget, which lets users recommend Android applications by text message, email, or over social networks.

HTC Wildfire will be available in Europe and Asia starting the third quarter of the year. Its price was not announced, but if HTC wants the smartphone to be successful among young users, it should make it cheaper than, say, the HTC Legend.
